Economic youth welfare
Stand: 28.05.2024
The Economic Youth Welfare Department at the Youth Welfare Office deals with financial and administrative matters relating to services and other tasks for young people and families.
Tasks
The Economic Youth Welfare Department at the Youth Welfare Office deals with financial and administrative matters in connection with outpatient, day-care and inpatient educational assistance as well as integration assistance.
In the case of educational assistance or integration assistance in a home or foster family, it provides maintenance and medical assistance. Economic Youth Welfare also grants care allowances to full-time caregivers or standby caregivers.
If children and young people are cared for in a home, a residential group, a foster family or in a curative day care center, the parents or the children and young people themselves must contribute to the costs of this assistance. The amount of the contribution depends on the financial situation. The Economic Youth Welfare Office checks the income and issues a decision on the amount of the contribution to be paid.
Other social benefits are also used to finance the assistance (e.g. child benefit, orphan's pension, BAföG, BAB).
The tasks of Economic Youth Welfare also include checking the local and material responsibility for the assistance, issuing notifications and processing costs.
