"Future elementary school and all-day care" program
Stand: 03.11.2025
From the 2026/2027 school year, the legal entitlement for primary school children will come into force, initially for year 1. This will be successively extended to the other grades in the following years. The legal entitlement is intended to guarantee all-day education and childcare for schoolchildren. As a result, the city of Erlangen is obliged to consider how youth welfare services and schools can ensure the legal entitlement, to take appropriate measures and, in particular, to make elementary school "structurally fit" for this.
Informationen
Five elementary school were prioritized as part of the "Future Primary Schools and All-Day Care" programme (Friedrich-Rückert-Schule, Pestalozzischule, Hermann-Hedenus-Grundschule, Mönauschule and Michael-Poeschke-Schule). Planning has already begun at three schools:
- An extension is being built at Friedrich-Rückert-Schule for the all-day school, including a canteen. Completion is planned by summer 2026
- The model project "Cooperative all-day education" started at the Michael Poeschke School in the 2021/2022 school year. An extension will also be built at this school. Construction began in summer 2025. Completion is planned for the end of 2027
- Planning for the Mönauschule / Hermann-Hedenus-Mittelschule school site began at the end of 2022 as part of the ISEK Büchenbach-Nord. Due to the tight budget situation, the measure will not be implemented until 2029 at the earliest
until 2026
The investment volume for the various measures amounts to between EUR 80 million and EUR 90 million
As part of the development of the Büchenbach-Nord school location in 2024, an extensive participation process was carried out with various expert discussions and workshops.
