Firearms; Application for a Preliminary Registration with an Existing Firearms Possession Card for a Hunting Association

If you are a hunting association that holds a Firearms Possession Card (WBK) and wish to purchase a firearm that requires a permit, you must apply for one. The permit is granted by the competent authority through an entry in the Firearms Possession Card (pre-registration).

With the preliminary entry, you have one year to acquire the registered firearm.

In the application for a permit to acquire a firearm, you need only specify the type of firearm and its caliber. Additional details, such as the manufacturer and exact model, are not required at this stage. You must provide this information only after you have purchased the firearm and fulfilled your obligation to report the purchase to the competent authority. The firearms dealer must also report the transfer of the firearm to you.

You must demonstrate that you can store the firearm you intend to purchase safely.

To fill out the application more quickly, you can use your NWR identification numbers (NWR-ID):

• Your personal NWR-ID (P- or F-NWR-ID) for your personal information
• the permit NWR-ID for your firearms permit (E-NWR-ID)
• the firearm or firearm component NWR-ID (W- or T-NWR-ID).

You can obtain the NWR-IDs by submitting a request to the relevant firearms authority.
