Fire inspection; implementation

The ordinance on the fire inspection specifies in particular the purpose of the fire inspection, what the fire inspection covers, who is responsible for carrying out the fire inspection and what orders the municipalities can issue.

The fire inspection extends to special buildings in accordance with Art. 2 Para. 4 of the Bavarian Building Code and other structures where there are concrete indications of significant risks.

The fire inspection is the responsibility of the municipalities.

The municipalities decide whether to carry out the fire inspection at their own discretion. The fire inspection must be carried out if there are concrete indications of dangerous conditions.

The municipalities may call in representatives of the local fire department to carry out the fire inspection.

The municipalities can carry out the fire inspection with their own personnel with the necessary qualifications or commission suitable experts, such as the local chimney sweep, to carry out the fire inspection or call in the fire inspection.

To prevent risks to life, health, property or possessions that may arise from fires, the fire alarm systems, rescue and emergency routes, extinguishing water extraction points, smoke extraction systems and organizational precautions in particular should be inspected.
