In the event of violations of the Animal Welfare Act, district administrative authorities must take action and, if necessary, issue orders.

Informationen
The competent district administrative authority may, in order to remedy identified violations or to prevent future violations of the Animal Welfare Act, and taking into account the principle of proportionality, order that
- the owner implement the necessary measures to comply with the requirements of § 2 of the Animal Welfare Act,
- animals be removed from the owner and placed in alternative housing at the owner’s expense until the conditions of care are improved,
- animals be sold,
- animals be euthanized at the keeper’s expense in a manner that minimizes pain,
- no animals, or no animals of a specific species, may be kept or cared for,
the keeping or care of animals of a specific species or any species may be made contingent upon obtaining a corresponding certificate of competence, - Animal testing must be discontinued.
