Lunchtime supervision for school children; information

Lunchtime supervision is run by the local authority or independent providers and guarantees reliable care for children after school until 2.00 pm. It is a social and recreational educational childcare service. Homework can be done on a voluntary basis.

Under the same conditions as lunchtime supervision until 2.00 p.m., extended lunchtime supervision with supervision times until 3.00 p.m. or 4.00 p.m. can also be offered if certain time and quality-related requirements are met.

In addition to reliable homework supervision, a well-balanced lunch must be offered and a pedagogical concept for the childcare services coordinated with the school management must be submitted by the provider. In addition, a minimum of three (for groups until 3.00 pm) or five (for groups until 4.00 pm) hours per week must be set aside for learning and support activities, artistic and creative activities or sports and exercise activities for the group.
