Vehicle License Plates; Applying for a Green License Plate

Green license plates are license plates with green lettering on a white background and are otherwise identical to "standard" license plates.

The registration authorities issue green license plates only if approval for tax exemption has been granted by the Main Customs Office. If these are issued before the Main Customs Office has made a decision, it is done to spare the applicant additional costs. The vehicle owner is required to change the license plate if the application is denied.

It is not yet possible to apply for a green license plate online.
