Elections; Support for Electoral Bodies

Election officials are the individuals or groups of individuals who organize elections and ensure that they are conducted properly. In European, federal, state, and district elections, election officials include the election supervisors and election committees at the voting district, electoral district, state, and federal levels. This also includes the presiding officers and election boards in each voting district or polling district.

Depending on the election or vote, the district administrative authorities serve as the seat of the election authorities at the district level. These are the district or city election directors for federal and European elections, the voting district directors for state and district elections, and the referendum directors for referendums. The district administrative authority supports the electoral bodies established within it in carrying out their duties during European Parliament, Bundestag, state parliament, and district elections.

As legal and technical supervisory authorities, the district offices not only provide the necessary administrative assistance but also ensure that the municipalities within the district properly prepare for and conduct the elections.
