The so-called self-disclosure from the population register is a special form of the right to information in accordance with Art. 15 of the General Data Protection Regulation. It is limited in the exceptional cases in accordance with Section 11 of the Federal Registration Act.
You can apply for self-disclosure from the population register in person, in writing or electronically at the relevant registration authority.
- Log data from automated retrievals and automated simple information from the register of residents is stored for at least 12 months and deleted at the latest at the end of the calendar year following storage. Data on non-automated simple and extended information from the population register will be deleted after one year.
- If you move away from the area of responsibility of a registration authority, the authority is obliged to delete some of the stored data after certain deadlines have expired, §§ 13, 14 BMG. Self-disclosure can no longer be provided for this data after the deadline has expired.
