Anyone who wishes to keep terrestrial animals (birds, terrestrial mammals, bees, and bumblebees) must notify the competent authority before commencing such activity, providing their name, address, the location of the facility, and a description of its facilities, categories, species, and the number of terrestrial animals kept, as well as the facility’s capacity, type of operation, and other aspects related to the operation that are relevant to determining the risk it poses.
The only exceptions to this requirement are households that keep companion animals.
Any changes or the cessation of animal husbandry must also be reported.
You keep one of the animal species listed above.
A holding number (registration number pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/429) must be available. This must be applied for at the competent Office for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. If a holding number already exists, it may need to be expanded.
Owners of cattle, pigs, sheep, hens, and turkeys must also register their livestock with the animal disease insurance fund.
Owners of land animals must maintain a herd register.
In addition, the receipt and transfer of cattle, sheep, goats, or pigs must be reported to the Animal Traceability and Information System (HIT database).
