Food Business Operators; Submission of Business Registration Applications

Food businesses are all businesses that carry out activities related to the production, processing, and distribution of food. Food business operators are required to report the facilities under their control, as well as significant changes in their operations and facility closures. This applies to all establishments involved in any stage of food processing, production, or distribution.

Registration is handled by the competent district administrative authority.

• Bakeries
• Cafés
• Retail stores that carry food or dietary supplements in their product range
• Ice cream shops
• Producers of food of animal origin
• Fisheries, crustacean, shellfish, and mollusk farms
• Restaurants
• Food wholesalers, transporters, importers, and exporters
• Snack bars
• Kiosks
• Pastry shops
• Kitchens and cafeterias (including all institutional food service facilities)
• Farms that raise or keep animals for food production
• Food brokers (e.g., online)
• Milk bars
• Milk processing facilities
• Mini-markets
• Mobile food vendors, including sales vehicles
• Primary producers of plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, and herbs
• Food banks
• Gas stations that sell food
• Food transporters
• Events with food service
• Party planning and catering services

Your business is not yet registered with the relevant authority, or there have been changes to your operational procedures or modifications to the information or data already on file, or you would like to deregister your food business.

• Please use the form provided and submit it to the relevant district administrative authority or via the online procedure. If no form is provided, you may register informally.
• The following information is required:
  • Details of the name, address, and legal form of the food business
  • For each facility, the following must be specified separately: the legal form, name, and address of the facility belonging to the business
  • For each business location, the following must also be provided separately: the specific activity and the type of operation

• Registration must take place before commencing operations.
• Significant changes to work processes or structural modifications must be reported immediately.
