Current Bus Detours
Stand: 01.07.2026
Erlangen's municipal utility company is not always able to follow the regular route schedule with its buses. This is due, for example, to construction sites or events.
Erlangen Public Utilities provides information about current detours on its website.
Improvements to the Transportation Infrastructure
About 120,000 people live in our city. In addition, there are several thousand commuters who travel to Erlangen every day for work. They’re all on the move every day—on their way to work, to the university, to the stores, to the theater, or to school. To ensure everyone reaches their destination safely, we’re improving and upgrading the road network. This also applies to sidewalks and bike paths. However, other entities—such as Deutsche Bahn, the Northern Bavaria Highway Authority, and various utility providers—also carry out construction work. Road or bike path closures are therefore, unfortunately, unavoidable. This also affects buses, which must then take alternate routes.
Events
Erlangen offers many opportunities for leisure activities. This is great for the people in our city, but also for all visitors. And sometimes a festival makes it necessary to close off streets. By the way: Our events calendar provides a good overview of what’s going on in the city. And you can list your event there for free.
