The city of Erlangen, together with Erlanger Kongress- und Marketing GmbH (EKM), recently invited its couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries to a special celebration in the Heinrich-Lades-Halle. 133 couples celebrating their 50th, 60th or 65th wedding anniversary accepted the invitation. Three couples were even honored for 70 years of partnership.
Strong role models
In his speech, Lord Mayor Florian Janik looked back on important events, cultural highlights and local developments in the years of the respective marriages. He praised the anniversary couples as "strong role models for cohesion, mutual support and living values".
Festive setting
With coffee, music from solo entertainer Norbert Weinmann and a festive supporting program, many couples took the opportunity to share memories and talk to the numerous members of the city council and the senior citizens' advisory board in attendance. A musical performance by the Municipal Singing and Music School under the direction of Julia Müller-Bohn and a small gift rounded off the event.
EKM sponsors the event
The city of Erlangen traditionally hosts the reception for wedding anniversaries once a year to honor couples for their many years of partnership - be it a golden, diamond or even iron wedding anniversary. Hubert Nägel, Managing Director of EKM, sponsored the wedding anniversary celebration this year, as the city would otherwise not have been able to hold the event due to the current budget situation. "It is very important to me to support this wonderful event - and my team is also very committed to it."
Lord Mayor Florian Janik: "It is impressive to see the life stories behind these anniversaries. The celebration is a sign of appreciation for all those who have been committed to each other and taken on responsibility for so many years. I would like to thank Hubert Nägel for making this celebration possible again this year."
