The new construction of the Stadtteilhaus West in Büchenbach is taking shape. After the ground-breaking ceremony in June last year, the shell of the building is now complete. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on Thursday. And on Friday, July 26, there will be a tour of the construction site for interested citizens(information can be found in the calendar of events).
The Stadtteilhaus West
In future, it will house a socio-cultural district center and a district library. The population of the city west will thus have many attractive opportunities for joint, active cultural and leisure activities under one roof.
What's in the new building?
There will be a bistro-café on the first floor. The following are available for communal use:
- several workrooms
- an open studio
- a kitchen with dining area
- a multi-purpose room for exercise classes, for example
- a large hall for events and private parties.
In between, there are bookshelves and reading and activity areas for the district library. It will have a wide variety of media available.
Future users involved in the planning
In an intensive participation process with the future stakeholders and users of the building, the expectations in terms of content and atmosphere were jointly formulated. These were taken into account in the planning design. The district center and district library merge thematically and atmospherically on all levels. There are large window fronts and few enclosed spaces in favor of open and partially open areas. This achieves the greatest possible openness both inside and out.
