Floods; information from district administrative authorities

Flood warnings must reach those affected quickly and in good time. A special flood information service has been set up in Bavaria for this purpose.

The flood information service is activated when defined water levels are exceeded at one of a total of 330 reporting gauges (= start of reporting). The water management offices take over the local warning and notification of the district administrative authorities (district administration offices and independent cities). The district administrative authorities in turn inform the municipalities and, if necessary, arrange for public protection measures.
