Disaster Response; Additional Equipment and Training

The federal government supplements the equipment for civil protection in the areas of fire protection, CBRN(E) protection, medical services, and support.

The federal government provides this supplemental equipment. The states distribute the equipment among the authorities responsible for civil protection. These authorities may then pass the equipment on to the entities operating the units and facilities.

The supplemental equipment provided by the federal government to the states for civil defense is also available to the states for tasks in the area of disaster control.

Volunteers in civil protection units and facilities who are designated for deployment in the aforementioned areas of responsibility receive supplementary civil defense training during their training to enable them to perform their duties.
