Applying for a corpse passport
You can use this online application to apply for a corpse passport.
Citizen-friendly and digital: simply complete this online application directly via your internet browser. In many cases, this will save you a trip to the authorities.
The corpse passport is issued by the municipality in whose territory the transportation begins. The corpse passport can only be issued if the required documents have been submitted.
The death certificate must be presented, in the case of suspected unnatural death the burial permit in accordance with § 159 Para. 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and, in the case of transfer for the purpose of cremation, a confirmation from the responsible police station that it is not aware of any indications of an unnatural death. In the case of repatriation abroad, the registry office must have noted on the death certificate that the death has been certified or that certification has been postponed.

The registry office of the city of Erlangen, death certification department is not staffed on Thursday, 28.11.2024. Documents can be handed in at the cemetery administration in the central cemetery, ground floor, room 1, Michael-Vogel-Straße 4, 91052 Erlangen.
