Digital cemetery map Erlangen
The digital cemetery map for the municipal cemeteries is now available. Gravesites can be found by name or by grave number using the search function. The exact location of the grave is displayed. You can be guided directly to the grave you are looking for via GPS. There is also information about available gravesites.
As part of their right to local self-government, municipalities can stipulate in their cemetery statutes that approval is required for the erection of gravestones. There is no legal obligation to do so. This is intended to review the existing requirements for the design of gravestones in a municipality before they are erected, particularly in the interests of stability and the preservation of reverence.
Whether a permit is required and under what conditions it is granted is determined by the respective cemetery statutes. You can obtain further information from your local authority.
The costs for approval are set out in the respective municipal cost statutes.
