Digital cemetery map Erlangen
The digital cemetery map for the municipal cemeteries is now available. Gravesites can be found by name or by grave number using the search function. The exact location of the grave is displayed. You can be guided directly to the grave you are looking for via GPS. There is also information about available gravesites.
Register burial
You can use this online application to register a funeral.
Citizen-friendly and digital: simply complete this online application directly via your internet browser. In many cases, this will save you a trip to the authorities.
The bodies and ashes of deceased persons must always be buried in a cemetery (except in the case of burial at sea). It is the responsibility of the municipalities to establish and maintain the burial facilities required for the burial of their residents. The allocation of a burial space by the municipality requires that a right to use a grave is granted (for more information, see "Burial space; applying for a right of use" under "Related topics").
The details of the use of burial facilities and the conduct of burials are regulated by the municipalities by means of statutes or regulations.
Regional Supplement (Editorial responsibility: City of Erlangen)
A place against loneliness. Meeting benches in the cemetery invite people to talk to each other in a respectful and discreet setting.
The desire for company and closeness accompanies us all. But sometimes it is a real challenge to find these moments in everyday life. The feeling of loneliness is particularly prevalent in stressful situations, personal loss or changes in social life.
To counteract this, the city of Erlangen has launched an initiative: the B(P)lauderbänke. These are meeting benches in the cemetery that stand out with their friendly blue color (photo: registry office). They invite you to take a seat and talk to each other and exchange thoughts and ideas. Are you sitting on the bench? Then you are signaling to others: "Feel free to sit down and talk to me. I'm open to a conversation and happy to share ideas." The meeting benches are not only open to visitors to the cemetery. They are there for anyone who longs for a chat or just wants to be in good company. The B(P)lauderbänke can be found in burial plots 51 and 54 at the central cemetery.
As a traditional place of silence and remembrance, the cemetery's benches offer a special opportunity to talk to each other in a respectful and discreet setting. Especially in times of increasing loneliness, places like these are invaluable.
Be part of the change - take a seat!
- The documents to be submitted can be found in the respective cemetery statutes.
