If you require a certificate of good conduct for official or private purposes, you can apply for one at your local authority or electronically via the online portal of the Federal Office of Justice.

Online procedure

Online certificate of good conduct (central online portal)

To be able to submit an electronic application for a certificate of good conduct via the online portal of the Federal Office of Justice, you need

  • a new ID card, an eID card with a domestic address or an electronic residence permit, each with an activated online ID function,
  • a card reader to read the ID document or an NFC-enabled smartphone,
  • the ID card app and
  • if necessary, a digital capture device (e.g. scanner or digital camera) to upload proof.

Reporting

You can handle registration matters digitally through the Citizen Services portal or in person on the ground floor of City Hall. For example, you can apply for a certificate of good conduct, an official certification, or information from the registration records.
