Climate protection; application for municipal funding

Climate budget

In 2020, the city of Erlangen decided to use its room for maneuver to achieve the 1.5°C target. Erlangen is daring to make a climate start for a city worth living in - now and in the future.

Be part of it and use the new municipal funding program to put your climate protection project into action. From now on, 65,000 euros will be available annually as part of the climate budget. The funding program has been specially developed for the citizens of Erlangen's city and district districts to initiate change on the ground. The local and district advisory councils are directly involved in the approval of the
applications submitted.

The application deadline is March 1 each year.

What is funded?

There are (almost) no limits to your imagination. Many things are conceivable around the topic of climate protection and the common good! Think about how you can put more climate protection into practice in your town or district. Here are a few ideas:

• Information events, action days and workshops on climate protection topics
• Urban gardening, greening the district
• Educational projects in schools and daycare centers
• Food sharing distribution stations
• Upcycling campaigns
• Offers for citizens: what can each individual do?
• Climate-friendly nutrition and mobility
• Flea markets and swaps
• Climate adaptation measures
• And much more

The local and district advisory councils are looking forward to the diverse projects from citizens for a climate-friendly and therefore grandchild-friendly Erlangen. Climate budget

After the application deadline on March 1 of each year, the climate budget applications received are subject to a technical review by the climate team (Environmental Agency). The relevant local or district advisory council then decides whether to provide funding. Applicants receive feedback no later than three months after submitting their application. The approved project is usually implemented within 6 months of receipt of the approval notice.

Associations, initiatives, schools, daycare centers, religious communities and private individuals aged 14 and over can take part.

Projects must make a contribution to climate protection and the common good.
