Public transport: numerous improvements for the timetable change
Stand: 29.11.2024
Among other things, the number of trips on busy lines such as lines 280 and 294 will be increased again. And school connections will be improved, in particular through additional services on route 286.
More attractive, more reliable and more efficient: Erlangen's municipal utilities are making great strides towards this goal. They are announcing numerous optimizations and improvements to the public transport services in Erlangen for this year's timetable change on 15 December. The city council was informed accordingly on Thursday.
What will change
- The number of journeys on heavily frequented lines such as lines 280 and 294 will be increased again. They were previously affected by timetable reductions due to the ongoing staff shortage.
- School connections will be improved, in particular through additional services on route 286. Further optimizations were examined and adopted on the basis of a survey of schools in the city area.
- The new Kraepelinstraße (In der Reuth) stop, which was set up as a trial operation in December 2023, has proven to be a success and will remain in place permanently. This provides the employees of the Klinikum am Europakanal with another public transport stop within walking distance and direct access to the center of Erlangen thanks to the routing of lines 293 and 296. Thanks to the extended range of services, passenger numbers in the entire In der Reuth area and at the district hospital have also increased by 60 percent.
- In a further step, the Am Bachgraben stop will be renamed "Rotes Kreuz" when the timetable changes. This will make it easier for visitors to find the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) and the associated facilities.
Detailed information on the timetable changes will be published on the Stadtwerke website(https://stadtbus.estw.de) and in the local media in good time before December 15.
