Sunday shopping enriches the city center

Stand: 27.02.2026

Lively meeting place for locals and guests on the Sunday after Easter. Stores open from 13:00 to 18:00.

In future, the first Sunday after Easter will be open for business - in line with Erlangen's established spring festival. This was decided unanimously by the city council on Thursday. The decision offers the opportunity

  • to make the city center even livelier and
  • strengthen the local retail sector.

In the heart of the city center

The Erlangen Spring Festival has become a permanent and well-attended institution in recent years. Numerous attractions and a wide range of food and drink on over 2,000 square meters invite visitors to linger. The opening of the stores on this day from 13:00 to 18:00 offers traders the chance to benefit from the increased footfall in the city center - with no obligation to participate.

City-Management Erlangen e. V. and the retail trade have agreed on this concept together with the city in order to best meet the needs of the local retail trade. The Sunday shopping event will take place in the heart of the city center:

  • along Nürnberger Straße and Hauptstraße between Werner-von-Siemens-Straße and Martin-Luther-Platz
  • between Goethe-/Nägelsbachstraße and Bohlenplatz.

The shopping Sunday at the Erlangen Spring Festival thus creates a "win-win" situation: visitors experience an attractive shopping and event offering, while local retailers can benefit from the increased attention and additional sales opportunities. The city center thus becomes a lively meeting place for locals and visitors. At the same time, it contributes to the economic vitality of the region.
