Owners of retail establishments in Bavaria may remain open past 8:00 p.m. until no later than midnight on four weekdays of their choosing each year. The required notification must be filed with the relevant municipality.

You can use this online application to register a late-night shopping event on weekdays.
Convenient and digital: Simply fill out this online application directly in your web browser. In many cases, this saves you a trip to the government office.
Retail establishments may hold up to four individual late-night shopping events per year on weekdays from 8:00 p.m. to no later than midnight. This requires notification to the relevant municipality. The municipality in which the retail establishment is located is responsible for this.
Retail establishments are
- retail stores of all kinds,
- sales stands and other retail facilities, provided that goods are continuously offered for sale to the general public from a fixed location, as well as
- sales facilities operated by cooperatives.
Individual late-night sales events are not permitted on the following days:
- on a Sunday or a public holiday;
- nor on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Holy Saturday, the Day of Repentance and Prayer, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve, nor on the day preceding Pentecost Sunday, All Saints’ Day, Remembrance Day, and All Souls’ Day
You are the owner of a retail store in Bavaria and would like to organize a special late-night shopping event on a weekday.
You can notify the relevant authority of your planned opening in an informal manner, specifying the date and the extended hours, or—if available—using the online procedure or form provided.
The notification must be submitted no later than two weeks before the planned opening.
