Municipal. Grant for cultural projects at educational institutions
Stand: 28.05.2024
Information on the allocation of municipal funds to promote the cultural education of children and young people in schools, daycare centers, after-school care centers, play and learning centers
Since January 2024, the Education Office of the City of Erlangen has been managing a funding pot of €10,000 to strengthen cooperation between cultural actors and educational and childcare facilities in Erlangen. The purpose of the grants is to promote the cultural education experiences of children and young people in the context of everyday school, daycare and after-school care and to strengthen the involvement of external cultural education actors in educational and care facilities.
Grants are awarded on the basis of the General Guidelines on the Approval and Use of Voluntary Grants from the City of Erlangen to Third Parties (Grant Guidelines) and the General Subsidiary Provisions of the City of Erlangen for Grants (Subsidy Subsidiary Provisions - ZuschNB).
The project funding application, the municipal grant guidelines and ancillary grant provisions as well as the proof of use form are available on request from the Education Office of the City of Erlangen. Please contact: bildungsbuero@stadt.erlangen.de or by telephone: 09131 86-2957.
Funding is available for cultural education projects that provide children and young people with cultural education experiences as part of their everyday school/daycare/after-school care. If possible, the projects should be carried out in cooperation between an Erlangen educational/care facility and at least one external cultural partner, i.e. a cultural practitioner or a cultural institution. The project must have a cultural focus and pursue a cultural education objective.
Funding for cooperation projects with municipal cultural institutions and municipal youth facilities is generally possible if it is a special offer that deviates from the regular program.
Eligible projects include musical, artistic or performative educational programs in and with classical cultural institutions as well as projects with socio-cultural actors, media educators or circus artists.
The project must be implemented in the city of Erlangen. Projects that violate legal regulations will not be funded.
Eligible for funding are schools, daycare centers, after-school care centers, lunchtime care, learning centers and playrooms in Erlangen.
Interested parties should submit an application for funding to the Education Office of the City of Erlangen.
The funding application must include a description of the planned project and a cost calculation. The calculated expenditure and income (e.g. entrance fees) for the project must be appropriate and comprehensible.
The application for a grant must be made in writing. The application form can be requested from the Education Office. If you are unable to print out the form yourself, we will be happy to send it to you by post. Please send us a scanned copy of the application by uploading it securely via a Securecloud link, which we will be happy to provide on request. Alternatively, you can also send it (not data-secure) by email or post.
It is possible to apply for funding throughout the school year. However, project funding applications can only be considered if the project has not yet begun at the time of application.
Typical funding amounts are between €200 and €800 per calendar year and project. We expect that the ratio of the requested amount to your own available financial resources is appropriate. If possible, a personal contribution should be made and be part of the total costs of the project. It can be provided by the applicant's own financial resources, income (e.g. entrance fees) and/or third-party funds from other funding providers (e.g. donations, sponsorship, other funding applied for).
The cost calculation of the application must be proportionate and realistically feasible. One-off purchases by the childcare and educational institutions, such as technology or similar, as well as entrance fees for visits to institutions are generally not eligible for funding.
Shared funding by different funding partners is possible. The individual budget shares of the different funding partners must be clearly identified. Projects for which full funding from other sources has already been applied for or approved (double funding) are not eligible for funding.
The grant application must be submitted in writing (by post or digitally) to the Education Office.

The funds are awarded to eligible projects in chronological order. The reference value here is the calendar year and the date of receipt of the application.
Funding is a voluntary benefit to which there is no legal entitlement. Once the funding pot for a calendar year has been exhausted, the Education Office can no longer provide project funding in the corresponding calendar year.
After the grant decision, the corresponding approval or rejection notices are issued. The grant is paid out according to need, but usually around two weeks before the start of the project.
In your grant application, please state your individual start and end dates for the project. The funding provided by the Education Office must be used within this period.
Full proof of the use of the grants received must be provided. Once the project has been completed, written proof must be submitted within six weeks, including a statement of account and project report. The proof of use form is available on request from the Education Office.
