If you need an extended criminal record check for official or private purposes, you can apply for one at your local municipality or through the Federal Office of Justice’s online portal.

A certificate of residence, which may include additional information, is required for a wide range of everyday matters.

As the government bodies closest to the public, municipalities and administrative associations, in particular, are generally authorized to officially certify copies and signatures.

Specially marked parking spaces for severely disabled persons are intended exclusively for use by certain severely disabled persons. The required parking permit can be applied for from the municipality of residence if the medical requirements are met.

When you move out of your apartment, you are required to deregister with the appropriate registration office (municipality or city) within two weeks, unless you are moving into a new apartment within Germany.

If you own and live in multiple apartments in Germany, one of them is your primary residence, and all others are secondary residences. You must inform the registration office which apartments you own and which of them is your primary or secondary residence.
