Immission control; noise action plan 2024
Stand: 20.02.2025
Analyze noise problems and eliminate them if possible.
How does the noise action plan work?
Erlangen's citizens have the opportunity to actively help shape noise reduction in the urban area. Directive 2002/49/EC on the assessment and management of environmental noise aims to prevent or reduce environmental noise on the basis of noise maps and noise action plans.
In conurbations with a population of 100,000 or more, the noise situation must be determined every five years and presented in noise maps. In 2022, the State Office for the Environment last produced noise maps for the city of Erlangen. These are available online in UmweltAtlas Bayern and serve as the basis for noise action planning.
In Erlangen, the noise action plan for road traffic (excluding freeways) from 2020 was updated in collaboration with the Ingenieurbüro für Verkehrsanlagen und Systeme (IVAS). This plan sets out measures to reduce the impact of environmental noise on citizens.
As part of the public participation process, over 500 Erlangen residents completed a questionnaire on traffic noise in July 2023. The results of the public survey were taken into account as far as possible in the draft noise action plan. The objections and suggestions for improvement from the second public participation were incorporated into the noise action plan. We would like to thank you for your cooperation with detailed suggestions for improvement.
The update of the noise action plan was unanimously approved at the meeting of the Environment, Transport and Planning Committee on September 17, 2024. The consent of the government of Middle Franconia was granted on December 19, 2024. The Environment, Transport and Planning Committee was again informed in detail about the adjustments in the report on February 4, 2025.
