The Foreigners' Registration Office reception desk used to be open earlier
Due to staff absences, the reception desk at the Office of Immigration and Naturalization will close today (Thursday, July 16) at 12:00 p.m. instead of the usual 2:00 p.m.

Summer vacation is just around the corner. It’s good to know that there are still plenty of summer camp spots available for schoolchildren in Erlangen.
Severe Weather: Over 200 Emergency Calls — Several Areas Still Closed
A severe thunderstorm with gusty winds swept through Erlangen and the surrounding region early Tuesday evening. In the city limits alone, the fire department was called out more than 200 times. The heaviest activity was concentrated in the southern part of the city, including the neighborhoods of Frauenaurach, Bruck, Eltersdorf, and Tennenlohe.
Traffic Count on July 22
Traffic counts form the basis for evaluating construction projects, but above all for upcoming planning efforts based on the results of the traffic development plan.
Bavarian Energy Days 2026
Under the slogan “Energy Transition. Here. Now.”, the Bavarian Energy Days will take place from July 18 to 26. There will be numerous free events. The city of Erlangen will be participating alongside its partners.

How to Behave in the Woods. As part of its “Preparing for Crises and Disasters” information series, the City of Erlangen provides monthly updates on various topics related to hazard prevention.
Election of the Advisory Board on Foreign Residents and Integration
Voting will be open from Monday, July 6, through Monday, July 27 (midnight). This is the first time voting will take place online. Instructions for online voting are available in German and English.
Karl-Heinz-Hiersemann Hall: Sports Activities Can Continue
Following the fire at the Karl-Heinz-Hiersemann Hall, sports activities will continue as usual until the hall’s previously scheduled closure for the conversion to LED lighting, from July 20 through August 9. Currently, only the locker rooms and showers are closed.
Forest Fire Risk
During prolonged dry spells, the risk of wildfires increases, especially during the summer months. Therefore, please observe a few important rules. Among other things, there is a strict ban on smoking in forests from March 1 through October 31.

On July 1, 2026, an amendment to the law governing basic income support for job seekers (previously known as “Bürgergeld”) will take effect. The key changes and new provisions are outlined below.
