Parking Plan for Downtown Is Being Further Developed

The city of Erlangen is continuing to systematically develop its downtown parking plan. Following the positive results of the pilot project around Bohlenplatz, these successful measures will be expanded to other areas in the future. At the same time, a new temporary parking lot with 49 spaces is being built next to the kubic culture and education campus.

Nationwide Day of Action: “Municipalities at Their Limit”

The mayors of Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen, and Schwabach supported the nationwide day of action “Municipalities at the Limit,” organized by the leading municipal associations, on Monday, June 22, 2026. Together, they drew attention to the dramatic financial situation facing cities and municipalities and called on the federal and state governments to take decisive action.

Future Parking on Michael-Vogel-Straße

The introduction of a parking management system is expected to provide 156 managed public parking spaces and three accessible public parking spaces in the future. Implementation is still scheduled for 2026.

Digital Day: Erlangen Focuses on a Wide Range of Online Activities

On June 26, the nationwide Digital Day will take place for the seventh time. Under the theme “Digital Security: Understand. Share. Trust,” Germany’s largest day of action for digital inclusion makes digital technologies understandable and accessible to everyone.

Elections for the Advisory Board on Foreigners and Integration (AIB) will be held from July 6 to 27—for the first time, entirely online. Mayor Jörg Volleth and Rami Boukhachem, chair of the AIB, provide more information.

40 Years of the Youth Art School

The anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27. From 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., there will be a varied program featuring hands-on activities, exhibitions, and performances. Since its founding as Bavaria’s first municipal youth art school, JuKS has provided children, teens, and families with spaces to experiment creatively and express themselves.

Introduction of the Water Cent: Recording Meter Readings

Effective July 1, 2026, the Free State of Bavaria will begin collecting the “Wassercent” for the first time. For this reason, the City of Erlangen is now advising all water users who draw groundwater directly from their own wells to record their meter readings as of July 1.

Call for Donations: Recreational Camp for Children from Brovary

Between 15 and 20 children from Erlangen’s Ukrainian sister city are to be given the opportunity to spend a week in Erlangen. The hope is that this will help them forget the horrors of war, at least for a little while.

Dechsendorfer Damm (closure)

The city of Erlangen is extensively renovating the Dechsendorfer Damm. A full road closure is required from June 2 until September 14.
