Organic waste collection has been suspended in several neighborhoods
Due to staff shortages in the waste collection department, organic waste collection could not be carried out throughout the entire city center, Röthelheimpark, Buckenhof, and Sieglitzhof areas.
Immigration Office Welcome Desk: Shortened Hours
The opening hours of the Foreigners' Registration Office reception desk will be reduced this week, from Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28. This is due to ongoing staff shortages.

Conversion of Ukrainian Driver's Licenses
As of August 18, 2026, Ukraine has been officially included in Appendix 11 of the Driver’s License Regulation (FeV). As a result, holders of valid Ukrainian driver’s licenses generally have the option to convert their licenses to a German driver’s license for the license classes listed there without having to retake the written or driving tests.
Erlangen North Highway On-Ramp Closed
Due to repairs to the traffic signal system, the ramp from Dechsendorfer Straße onto the A 73 federal highway in the direction of Nuremberg at the Erlangen-Nord interchange will be closed from Wednesday, August 26, until Friday, August 28 (tentatively).
Open Monument Day
On Sunday, September 13, Open Monument Day once again invites visitors to make exciting discoveries. Under the theme “NetzWERKE: Monuments & Infrastructure,” monuments will be viewed in new contexts. In addition to the traditional offerings, there will be two new events this year.
ENG: New chemistry wing and five new classrooms
At the Emmy-Noether Gymnasium (ENG) in Bruck, a new building is being constructed on the site of the former teachers' parking lot to house the chemistry wing, five additional classrooms, and an open learning space on the upper floor.
Forest Fire Risk
Be sure to observe the smoking ban in forests. Any smoke should be reported as soon as possible by calling the emergency number 112.
