Project City as a whole

By 2026, all-day education and childcare for schoolchildren is to be guaranteed by a legal entitlement. This means that the city of Erlangen is obliged to consider ways of ensuring that youth welfare services and schools can meet this legal entitlement, to take appropriate measures and, in particular, to make elementary school "structurally fit" for this.

A concept is being developed for new garden areas in the city of Erlangen. The potentially suitable areas for allotment gardens and other offers are shown and evaluated.

Erlangen wants to achieve climate neutrality across the entire city by 2030. A unique project has been launched to achieve this. With the "Climate Awakening Roadmap", an entire city has been setting out since fall 2022 to make its contribution to curbing global warming.

The existing wastewater treatment process leaves trace substances from pharmaceuticals and personal care products as well as certain industrial and household chemicals almost completely in the treated wastewater. A 4th purification stage is necessary to treat the wastewater accordingly before it flows back into the Regnitz.

Teenagers and young adults receive comprehensive support in the newly established Youth Employment Agency (JBA) to help them gain a foothold in the job market. The employment agency and the Erlangen job center are working closely together to achieve this.

The city of Erlangen is expanding its mobility options by promoting electromobility and sharing services and linking different forms of mobility.

Implementation of the "Joint Health Strategy" of the city and district as part of the "GesundheitsregionPlus Erlangen-Höchstadt und Erlangen" project.

Integrated sports development planning is a response to the requirements for contemporary and sustainable development in the areas of sport, exercise and health.

Erlangen's city center is heavily burdened by traffic (parked vehicles, commuter traffic, etc.) In order to relieve the city of motor vehicle traffic and increase the quality of stay, local public transport will be further strengthened by suitable measures.

The "Sustainability and Climate Center" (working title) is intended to create a central point of contact for all Erlangen residents who are interested in climate protection, want to find out more or get involved.

In future, the Stadt-Umland-Bahn (StUB) will connect the cities of Nuremberg, Erlangen and Herzogenaurach as a tramway and help secure the future of the region as an efficient, environmentally friendly, low-barrier and attractive alternative to car traffic. The StUB also offers sustainable mobility, particularly for the large number of commuters along the city axis.
