It is located on the 2nd floor of Erlangen Town Hall. The address is: Rathausplatz 1, 91052 Erlangen. There are bus stops at Neuer Markt.
If you want to come to us by car, you can use the privately run parking garage right next to the town hall. The address is Schuhstraße 42. You can find more parking options in the city center here.

The Foreigners' Registration Office primarily processes applications for residence permits and issues residence documents. It is responsible for foreigners who
- live in Erlangen or
- are registered in Erlangen.

What is the Foreigners' Registration Office not responsible for?
It is not responsible for social benefits or for finding accommodation; this is done by other departments of the city administration. You can find information on these benefits under

All access to the Foreigners' Registration Office is via the central entrance and waiting area on the second floor of the town hall. There you register at a registration terminal and wait to be called for your appointment with the clerk or at the information desk.
Do you have an appointment?
Then you will be called by your clerk via the call monitors in the waiting area and go to the room indicated there.
You do not have an appointment?
You will be called via the call monitors to the staff at the information desk in the entrance area. There you can, for example

- hand in applications and documents
- collect documents.
No. Documents can be deposited in the letterbox in the waiting area. Please ensure that they are appropriately labeled and packaged so that they can be correctly allocated by our staff.

Temporary outage of the digital application Naturalization application online
Due to technical problems, it is not possible to use the functionalities of the digital application for naturalization via the Bayernportal and the municipal homepage until further notice. We are working hard to rectify the problem. It is not yet possible to say when the functionality will be available again. However, citizens who wish to apply for naturalization can continue to do so by post.
