What makes us special - advantages of training with the city of Erlangen
The employees of the city administration of Erlangen shape and characterize the "City for All" and are its most important resource. Training is therefore of great importance as the first step in continuous personnel development and is a task for the entire city, across departments and offices.
Through systematic, goal-oriented and qualified training, the City of Erlangen secures committed employees. They ensure that the municipality's performance is permanently maintained and further developed for the benefit of its citizens. In order to meet the ever more rapidly changing requirements, junior staff must already have certain key qualifications and develop these during their training. This formative phase lays the foundation for further professional development as well as for the early identification of junior staff with the city's goals and values. In its self-image as a modern training company and in view of demographic change, it is in the interests of the city administration of Erlangen to attract, develop and retain qualified personnel.
The city administration of Erlangen provides training in line with requirements and as a whole. This means that all those involved actively contribute to its success.
The junior staff are part of the reliable and diverse community of the City of Erlangen. They are responsible and motivated in pursuing their training goal and contribute to making existing work processes more effective and efficient through creativity, motivation and thinking about the city as a whole. The junior staff should become aware of their personal strengths, development potential and interests. Lifelong learning should be a matter of course for all employees.
Both the trainers and the training and development team support the junior staff and accompany them in their personal development on their way to becoming competent employees. They enjoy contributing to the training process with their individual skills and abilities.
Those responsible for training see transparency and trust as a prerequisite for high-quality training. They operate in a reliable network by ensuring close cooperation and showing a high level of commitment. As those responsible for training, they continuously develop their skills and also gain management experience, which enables them to actively shape their own personnel development. They are role models for junior staff in their actions. Mutual appreciation, respect and openness characterize the training work.
The junior staff are accepted in their personality, diversity is recognized as an opportunity in daily interaction and lived in action. The inclusion of different skills and talents opens up opportunities for innovative solutions in shaping urban society. This holistic approach to training also enhances the company's image as a training company.
The Lord Mayor, department heads and department heads provide long-term support for training by creating and maintaining a conducive environment.
In addition, the training and development team coordinates the training and is available as a central point of contact.
Qualified training work thrives on mutual give and take and is a valuable investment in the future.
Even before the actual start of training, the City of Erlangen offers its new trainees several days of outdoor team training in Franconian Switzerland. In various modules, the new employees have the opportunity to get to know each other better, as well as the City of Erlangen as an employer and the training team, and to compare their mutual expectations of the training period.
Furthermore, the junior employees have the opportunity to deal with the topic of self-organization and personal responsibility during their training and are encouraged to become aware of their own skills through self-reflective components.
The perfect start to a new phase of life!
Experienced trainers supervise our junior staff as they complete various experiential educational elements that can be transferred to their everyday working life.
All of our junior employees are provided with a company laptop at the start of their training or dual study program. This can be used both in theoretical phases (vocational school/university/inter-company training) and in practical phases.
The laptop is supplemented by a so-called "token", which our junior staff can also use to access the municipal network from outside (e.g. from their home office).
Our trainers and training officers receive extensive training as part of a qualification series.
The trainer qualification series covers the core topics of training work in various modules. It is designed to support trainers and training officers in their training work and strengthen their skills.
Even during their training, our junior employees receive extensive further training opportunities as part of a seminar program in order to acquire or expand the key qualifications required for work processes and personal development.
In order to achieve the goal of successfully completing training together, we also support our junior staff with exam preparation and internal courses.
We won't leave you on your own when it comes to preparing for written and practical exams, or if you need to repeat theoretical training content!
The City of Erlangen offers motivated, high-performing junior employees a guaranteed job after their apprenticeship or dual study program.
